Derin Aslan was born in 1997 in Malatya, Turkey. She graduated from Dokuz Eylül University's Department of Stage Design. In the final year of her university studies, she developed an interest in shamanism and began designing costumes inspired by their attire. These costume designs led her to create new characters, and she eventually realized that what she truly loved and wanted to pursue was illustration.

Using shamanism's connection to nature as inspiration, she created new characters and settings. She found her true calling in illustrating children's books, where she could fully express her creativity and feel like herself. She loves exploring forests, sketching her discoveries, and creating new worlds.

The diverse textures found in nature inspire her to incorporate a variety of textures into her digital illustrations. She even creates her own digital brushes to use in her artwork. In addition to digital illustration, she adores working with watercolor and pastels.

Derin believes she has discovered the magic within herself and is confident that everyone will find their own magic one day.
